Wet Chemical Fire Extinguishers

Wet chemical fire extinguishers contain a potassium solution that effectively attacks the flame by two methods. First, mist cools fire and lowers temperature to stop fire from spreading, and also prevents the oil from splashing. Second, potassium salts react with hot oil and saponification foam covers the surface of burning oil and causes saponification. The resulting mist also shows cooling effect.
